Wild Wild West at Bally's

wild wild west rect.jpg (9191 bytes)An offspring of Bally’s Park Place, the Wild Wild West Casino opened July 2, 1997 and is one of the most innovative casinos in town. Designed by Yates–Silverman, the $110 million expansion project was completed in just over one year and is a supremely western-themed, freestanding casino, connected by walkway to Bally’s Park Place. The Boardwalk façade of the Wild Wild West features an elaborate Old West townscape complete with hotels and a general store as well as a wagon perched on a simulated rockscape.

Upon entering from the Boardwalk, guests are greeted by an animated mountain scene with waterfalls, mines, and a running stream. At the base of the 20-foot mountain is a robotic "Forty-niner" who, in the midst of kneeling streamside and panning for gold, begins to tell a story every few minutes or so about the Wild Wild West – (the casino, that is). Standing beside the old man is his hee-hawing burro. Nearby is a talking rattlesnake and a perched vulture who strangely sounds very much like the voice of actor Jack Nicholson. Above, visitors gaze at a faux sky with an approaching storm, complete with a full moon, clouds and bolts of lightning.ballys2.jpg (7842 bytes)

The casino floor offers more than 73,935 square feet of gaming area, (Casino floor spans 48,154 and the Simulcast area spans 25,781 square feet) consisting of themed slot areas and table games positioned beneath a giant train trestle that snakes around the casino. In addition to 1,673 slot machines, the casino features 58 table games, including blackjack, roulette, dice, big six, keno and mini-baccarat.

The Wild Wild West has excellent dining and lounge options available, including the Lone Star Snack Bar, where guests can take a load off and get a quick bite; the Gold Rush Grill, providing award winning B.B.Q. delights, sandwiches and salads; the Virginia City Buffet, featuring everything from Chinese to Italian cuisine; and of course, The Mountain Bar, a great watering hole that features a mountain scene and a motorized train that circles the seating area – open 24 hours daily.
