Without
a doubt the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort is Atlantic City’s grandest
and most frequented casino hotel. Located at Virginia Avenue and the
Boardwalk, the Taj Mahal is the first multi-billion dollar casino
established in Atlantic City. Covering 152,000 square feet, the casino
floor is home to more than 4,429 slot machines and more than 220 gaming
tables, including 68 poker tables and a state-of-the-art simulcast
facility.
The Taj provides special meet and greet
services for all overnight motorcoach arrivals. There is no waiting in
line at the front desk. The 51-floor hotel consists of 1,250 rooms,
including 34 non-smoking rooms. Aside from the hotel and actual casino,
the Taj also features an indoor swimming pool, gift shops, cocktail
lounges, 8 restaurants, live entertainment, a fitness center,
multi-lingual services and banquet facilities.
Although there are plenty of activities
to be enjoyed throughout the entire complex, the casino floor is where
most of the real action occurs. The gaming at the Taj is among the best
in the city. The décor is gaudy and bright and excessive but, somehow,
when the sun goes down, the decorations are overshadowed by droves of
people from all over the globe, from high-rollers to sexy cocktail
waitresses to the retiree slot player.
The
poker room is particularly lively, offering lots of action in a nice
room. In fact, the Taj’s poker room was featured in the 1998 film,
"Rounders", starring Matt Damon and Edward Norton. In
addition, there are many other table games and numerous slot machines.
Naturally, the casino gets crowded on weekends, causing a scarcity in
low limit tables.
The Taj has plenty of dining and beverage
facilities as well as a few lounges. Perhaps the casino’s biggest
dining/drinking spot is the All Star Café, featuring 20 TV screens in
addition to 12 giant TV screens. And what is being shown? You guessed it
-- an incredible amount of sports, and then more sports. Not into
sports? Well, how about a burger and a concert over at the Hard Rock
Café, which is located on the Boardwalk and is contiguous to the Taj
Mahal. There are also gourmet restaurants inside the complex such as
Safari’s Steak House or more casual eateries such as the Sultan’s
Feast international buffet. The Taj also provides headline entertainment
at the sophisticated Xanadu Showroom or the popular Princess Lounge.
